Welcome to Restoran Sawasdee Thai Cuisine (莎娃里泰国餐), a hidden gem nestled in the heart of Ipoh, Perak, where authentic Thai flavors come alive. If you're looking to indulge in aromatic herbs, fresh ingredients, and bold spices, this restaurant should be at the top of your dining list.
As you step inside, you'll immediately be greeted by a spacious and inviting atmosphere—a perfect setting for both casual dining and celebratory meals. The environment feels vibrant yet relaxed, making it an ideal destination for families, friends, or even a quiet dinner for two.
Now, let’s talk about the star of the show: the food! The menu is a delightful exploration of traditional Thai cuisine, showcasing a range of dishes that are not only generous in portions but also tantalizing to the palate. For those who enjoy a bit of zest, the lime steamed fish served with a tangy, balanced sauce is a standout dish that Olivia Teoh raves about, claiming it's better than many meals in Chiang Mai! If you're after something with a kick, the keang som pla—a sour and spicy fish dish, is both flavorful and utterly satisfying.
Don't miss their green curry chicken, laden with fresh vegetables, which has received praise for its authentic flavor without overwhelming spice. For those who appreciate a bit of crunch, the mango salad is refreshing and bursting with texture, while the fried omelette serves as the perfect accompaniment with its light and crispy finish.
Though some guests like Jamie Joseph have pointed out that the rice might be ordinary rather than the fragrant Thai variety, it pairs wonderfully with the robust dishes. Take a moment to sip on one of their herbal teas—or classic soft drinks—as you savor the tantalizing flavors of your meal.
Despite a few comments on cleanliness and occasional slow service due to staffing shortages, the overall experience remains delightful for many patrons. Customer Ee Rick shares that the food comes out quickly, ensuring you won't have to wait long to dive into these generous portions. It's a testament to how good food and reasonable pricing make for an inviting dining experience.

Very authentic thai food restauant . Price is very reasonable and portion is big . Taste good and not too oily and spicy . Love this green curry chicken so much of vegetables. I think rice is normal rice not thai fragrance. They don’t sell any lemongrass or ginger drink here . Some herbal and Chinese tea and also soft drinks . Restauant is big and spacious and plenty of tables and the environment is good and chill . The restauant is not air conditioned and it’s only indoor seating . Highly recommended

We ordered 'keang som pla - a sourish spicy fish', sambal paku, salted fish kailan and claypot tau foo. The portion is quite generous and the taste is flavoursome.

This place is an absolute gem! Their lime steamed fish is perfectly balanced with tangy and zesty flavors, the mango salad is refreshing and bursting with flavor, the fried omelette is light and crispy, and the sambal paku is simply divine. It’s always our go-to spot whenever we’re back in our hometown. Easily the best Thai food we’ve had—better than most restaurants we’ve tried in Chiang Mai and definitely nothing like it in Australia. A must-visit for anyone who loves authentic Thai cuisine!

Very good and tasty Thai foods. Price very reasonable. Cleanness and surrounding are below average. Slow to serve cause by shortage of workers.
